Main Street Collierville Presents Bluegrass & BBQ
Main Street Collierville will hold the its first Bluegrass & BBQ event which will be held on May 24 and 25 on the historic town Square in downtown Collierville.
This fundraising event sponsored by The Rotary Club will offer smoked Boston butts for $30.00…perfect for the Memorial Day weekend! The butts are being
smoked by Dave Nelson and the award winning BBQ team of AIMS Logistics. Butts must be preordered by calling the Main Street Collierville office at 853-1666 or
email at mnstreetcv@aol.com. Preordered butts can be picked up at the Main Street Collierville office located at 125 North Rowlett Street between 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.
both days.
During the pickup times, visitors to the square can enjoy the bluegrass sounds of Brush Arbor Bluegrass on May 24 and Wayne Jerrolds & Savannah Bluegrass
on May 25. Both bands are very familiar with the Square as they play in Confederate Park on Friday Nights during what is now called "Shade Tree Pickin’
on the Square," Collierville’s Friday night Bluegrass jam. Joe Cupp of Brush Arbor states that he "saw that Main Street Collierville and others were trying their best
to preserve the ancient setting, and thought it was the perfect place for old time and bluegrass music." His efforts to preserve the music of the past and combined
with Main Street Collierville’s efforts to to preserve the Town Square is a perfect match.
Funds raised from the selling of the smoked butts support Main Street Collierville, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to preserve and enhance the
Town Square area as the heart of Collierville, which provides for a successful business and residential environment. The Town Square area continues to thrive with
specialty merchants, restaurants and events, and each year Main Street Collierville, along with the support of the Town of Collierville and area sponsors, organizes
and hosts the following events: National Preservation Month, Sunset on the Square Summer Concert Series, Partners in Preservation Party, Out to Lunch, and
Christmas in Collierville. Details of these events are listed on the Main Street Collierville link at
