A Community Working Together

Main Street Collierville, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit who works to promote, preserve, and protect our historic Town Square, counts on the generosity of business and individuals to make the events on the Square successful.

For example, Kelly Slemons of Pepsi Americas has worked with Main Street Collierville to provide a Pepsi trailer and products for the Sunset on the Square Summer Concert Series.  Pepsi generously donates the product and trailer for the entire concert series.  In addition, this year Tom Norris of Domino’s Pizza donated ten pizzas for each concert which could be sold by the slice.  The funds raised during the concert series from Pepsi and Dominoes totaled over $2,000.00.  All funds raised support Main Street Collierville’s continuing efforts to preserve, protect and promote Collierville’s historic district.  Pepsi Americas also donates product for the Partners in Preservation Party held in September, Out to Lunch held in October and Christmas in Collierville held the first Saturday in December.

The Partners in Preservation Party & Taste of the Town held each year in September serves as a major fundraiser for Main Street Collierville.  The last few years, various Collierville High School groups have assisted in making the event a success.  High school cheerleaders have performed, various volunteers groups have assisted in setup and decorations, and this year, the art students took it a step further with their creativity.  Shari McNeil, Decorations Chair for the Preservation Party, contacted Jennifer Burford of Collierville High School about the possibility of the kids assisting with decorations for the Elvis themed event, “All Shook Up on the Square”.  Mrs. Burford, as always, welcomed the challenge.  The classes of art students listened to Elvis music as they created over 500 cardboard records, complete with record labels.  “We used these as placemats at each seat,” stated Shari McNeil.  “Guests were asking where they could purchase them.  They were truly amazing!”  As a treat, Main Street Collierville Executive Director, Laura Todd, and Shari McNeil delivered candy to all 360 art students in appreciation for their hard work.  “This is just a small token of our appreciation for the wonderful commitment our students and teachers have for Collierville,” stated Mrs. Todd.  “I think this is a wonderful example how we can all work together in our community to achieve our goals.”

Main Street Collierville has also had the privilege of using the artwork of several Collierville High School art students for posters for the Sunset on the Square Summer Concert Series as well as Christmas in Collierville.  “It is wonderful to be able to use the artwork of students,” stated Linda Stamps, Promotions and Communications Coordinator of Main Street Collierville.  “We have such talented youth in our town and it is an honor to give them an opportunity to shine.”
