Main Street Collierville Presents Check to Collierville Fire Department

The last two years, Main Street Collierville has selected a non-profit to benefit from the Collectible Ornament sales by receiving ten percent of the sales. In 2005 with the Collierville High School ornament, Collierville Education Foundation was selected to receive a donation. In 2006 with the Fire House 1 ornament, Main Street selected the Collierville Fire Department Smoke Detector Program.

On February 28, Main Street Collierville presented a check in the amount of $500.00 to Chief Jerry Crawford. "The Collierville Fire & Rescue is very appreciative of the generous gift received from Main Street Collierville," Chief Crawford stated. "Donations such as these enhance our ability of creating a Fire Safe Community."

The funds will be used for the Smoke Detector Program. This program furnishes free smoke detectors to persons who complete an application and meet the requirements of the program. These detectors are furnished through donations from the private sector. The fire department will maintain the smoke detectors yearly as long as funds are available.

"Main Street Collierville is proud to be able to partner with other deserving programs in our community," stated Laura Todd, Main Street Collierville Executive Director.

The 2007 Collectible Ornament will be called "Christmas in Collierville" featuring the Town's double-decker bus positioned in front of the gazebo and Christmas tree. Ten percent of the proceeds will benefit the Historic Merchant's Committee which recently became part of Main Street Collierville. Funds will assist with events such as Treats on the Square and Holiday Open House.
