Main Street Collierville Holds Annual Meeting

Main Street Collierville recently held its Annual Board Meeting welcoming new board members Kevin Perkins of SunTrust Mortgage; Susan Patrone of FedEx Services; Jeff Abeln with the Collierville Police Department, Jim Gannaway of John Green Commercial, Betty Edmunds of BankTennessee serving in an Ex Officio position, and Richard Lee Lurgi PSI

Returning board members are: Deborah Brooks, Main Street Realtors; Allen Green, Real Estate Broker with John Green & Company Realtors; Brenda Hood, First State Bank; Joyce McKenzie, Agent with Crye-Leike Realtors; Dave Nelson (President), President of AIMS Logistics; Melissa Nimon, Historic District Commission; Walt Norwood (Secretary), owner of Washington Street Bistro; Tamara Swain (President-Elect), Vice-President and Branch Manager of First Tennessee Collierville; Curt Vaughn (Treasurer) owner of Southern Abode; and Jack Werne (Immediate Past President), Real Estate Broker with John Green Realtors. Serving in Ex-officio positions are Mayor Linda Kerley, Alderman Stan Joyner, Fran Persechni, President of the Chamber of Commerce, and Laura Todd, Executive Director of Main Street Collierville.

The Annual Board meeting was held February 6 to establish goals for 2007 and was facilitated by Laura Todd, Executive Director along with President, Dave Nelson. Town Administrator James Lewellen, shared long-term goals for the Historic District. The Annual Work Plan established will continue to follow the Four-Point Approach established by the National Trust for Historical Preservation Main Street Center.

“Aside from the numerous yearly events that are planned to promote and preserve the historic district,” stated Dave Nelson, Board President, “Main Street Collierville is taking an active role in promoting and supporting the creation of Collierville’s Downtown Development Corporation, an organization that I feel is vital to insure inspired future planning attracting enhancing dvelopment projects to our historic district.”

“Main Street Collierville will continue to carry out our mission as a Main Street community by a comprehensive strategy of work in these four areas: Design, Economic Restructuring, Promotion, and Organization,” stated Main Street Collierville’s Executive Director, Laura Todd.

Annual events important to the community economically and historically are being planned out. The venues for 2007 include the celebration of Preservation Month in May with various activities; the 16th Annual Sunset on the Square Summer Concert Series held each Thursday night in June and July; the 15th Annual Partners in Preservation Party and Taste of the Town held in September; Out to Lunch held in October; and Christmas in Collierville held in December.
