Train Restaurant on the Square Being Engineered

The train on Town Square

Plans to convert the Memphis Special that's parked on the tracks alongside the Town Square seem to be getting back on track. The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will re-visit the plan in two weeks. The Town Administrator and restaurant developers will meet again to re-work an agreement to convert the train cars into a restaurant. Developers have dropped two key provisions in their original plan; that the lease be cut from 10 years to five and a decision by the Town to terminate the lease would require six months notice. Developer Marshall Criss said, "What you've got is a gem down there. The Square has got its own unique character. What is needed now is to find a way to build a critical mass."

Alderman Justin Mitchell told the developers, "The heart of Colliervilles' sentiment for the Square is so important we can't afford to make a mistake."

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will take up the issue again in two weeks.
