Christmas in Collierville

“It’s a Wonderful Life, Collierville!” Main Street Collierville and title sponsor, M & F Bank, invite you to kick off your Christmas season at the 13th Annual Christmas in Collierville event held December 2nd from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm on the historic town square. Voted by Southeast Tourism Society as one of the Top 20 Events in the eleven states for December, this holiday event is full of activities for everyone!

Visitors can shop at the 50 food and craft vendors while enjoying the live entertainment from the bandstand. Kids will have a special treat at Santa’s Workshop, sponsored by Bank of Bartlett, where kids can make cards which will be sent to soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital, make reindeer food, and write their special letter to Santa. Kids can also visit the petting zoo and enjoy the sleigh ride free of charge.

Of course no day would be complete without the horse-drawn carriage ride, sponsored by Joyce McKenzie of Crye-Leike Realty. Bundle up and take a ride through the Square.

Of course, Santa will be making a special trip from the North Pole visiting with children from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 to 4:00 pm. At 1:00 p.m. when Santa has to check on the reindeer, Judy Fricke will be offering holiday readings from the bandstand with milk and cookies provided. Children and adults alike are encouraged to create a keepsake ornament for just $5.00 at JDesigns who will be set up on the square.

This year’s event also includes a new “Chili, Soup & Chowder Cook-Off” sponsored by The Collierville Herald. Area service and non-profit organizations will be serving up their hot, delicious dishes to raise money for their organizations throughout the day. At 4:00 p.m., judging will begin with the winners will be announced at 5:00 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., find a spot in the park, bundle up with loved ones and enjoy an outdoor screening of a special holiday movie. Hint: it really is a wonderful life!

Special thanks to community sponsors Pepsi Americas and the Town of Collierville as well as the many youth and adults who volunteer. For more information, please contact the Main Street Collierville office at 853-1666 or check out their website at www.mainstreetcollierville.org.
