2007 Partners in Preservation Party & Taste of the Town presents
"All Shook Up On The Square"
Elvis is on the Square! Okay…so maybe not the real Elvis, but Main Street Collierville is looking forward to getting you All Shook Up on the Square with the 15th Annual Partners in Preservation Party & Taste of the Town. This themed event will be Saturday, September 22, from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Collierville’s Historic Town Square. The party serves as Main Street’s major fundraiser, which assists them in hosting many of the events held on the Square each year such as the Sunset on the Square Summer Concert Series, Out to Lunch, and Christmas in Collierville.
“The purpose of these events is not only for the community and social aspect,” stated Laura Todd, Executive Director of Main Street, “but also to bring focus to the Square and Historic District so that our children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy and appreciate their heritage.” Todd continued, “Those who visit the Square leave with a sense of appreciation for small-town wholesomeness. It is vital that we preserve that heritage by attracting people to the Square.”
Entertainment this year will feature the great sounds of The EP Express. The group of 8 musicians, vocalists and songwriters perform primarily Elvis songs from his Vegas years, 1969-1977. However, they also offer music from country to rock, blues to southern rock, and even a few originals. All members are fans of Elvis and have been influenced by his music. It is with great respect and pride that they perform their renditions of his music.
Along with the music, there will be 25 area restaurants serving their specialties as part of the “Taste of the Town” gourmet event. Guests can enjoy visiting the many tents sampling a variety of foods. In addition to a tent-filled with silent auction items, the highlight of the evening will be a live auction featuring big-ticket items donated by area businesses. Guests are encouraged to dress according to the Elvis theme.
Tickets to All Shook Up on the Square are available at the Main Street Collierville office located at 125 N. Rowlett Street in the Historic Train Depot.
