Christmas in Collierville Named Top 20 Event in Southeast for 2nd Year

Main Street Collierville’s 14th Annual Christmas in Collierville has been recognized by Southeast Tourism Society as one of the Top 20 Events for fall 2007.  The event this year, held on Saturday, December 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in historic downtown Collierville, will feature holiday events such as carriage rides, visits with Santa, Story Time Express from the bandstand with cookies and milk, children’s festivities and much more! Craft vendors will offer their holiday items in the park while local schools groups and choirs perform holiday selections from the bandstand throughout the day.

The Southeast Tourism Society has always recognized the many unique and diverse events in the Southeast, and in 1985 began the Top 20 Events Program.  For every month of the year, twenty of the top events from across eleven states are chosen as the Top 20 in the Southeast.  The Top 20 Events publication is sent to over 600 media contacts which include newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations and others, as well as 125 AAA publications. The combined circulation runs into the millions.

“It is an incredible honor for Main Street Collierville to have been selected two years in a row as one of the Top 20 events from eleven states,” stated Laura Todd, Executive Director of Main Street Collierville.  “Knowing that our town and our events are appreciated by others is very rewarding.”  Main Street Collierville’s Christmas in Collierville is the only event selected from Tennessee for fall 2007.  Todd continued, “Linda Stamps, Main Street Collierville’s Promotions and Communications Coordinator, has done an outstanding job chairing this event for the past two years.  We look forward to another great event this year!”

Other events receiving recognition for December 2007 include A Celtic Christmas in Fort Smith, Arkansas; Christmas Towne in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Enchanted Eve in Vinton, Virginia.
